I can only speculate as to what Yahoo does, but there is always an ongoing battle between Yahoo/Us and these Morons that want to destroy web sites.
Someone first has to even be aware we are GETTING spam. In a perfect world that'd be Yahoo, but I'm sure they have to rely on us to report it for them.
Then action has to be taken. Deleting spam I'm sure is easy, stopping someone from re-posting it is not. You can delete accounts, but other accounts can be created.
The spammers typically use "Bots", automated programs to reply every so often. I don't want to keep going on too much here, I'm getting into the dangerous territory where I might be telling someone HOW to do this.
Anyway I've rambled and I see I haven't really answered your question. Yahoo presumably DOES have countermeasures to all of this. They can delete accounts, write their OWN bots that look for this and remove it, and even refuse to post something based on what the IP address it is coming from is.
I'm not them so I don't know what they are doing today, but whatever it is, it's working. Hope it keeps up.......
