If it's to the point where others constantly take advantage, yes. Otherwise, no!

The answer to your question is no it is not possible to be too nice, but is this really the question that you want to know the answer too?
Is the person saying you are too nice a person you are helping? If so, why are they asking you for assistance? If they think you are too nice and they ask you for help then you would wind up appearing even nicer which is contradicting to their claim of you being too nice, or are they just taking advantage of your generosity. If they are observing your caring behavior and think that you are being used you need to yourself a few questions.
Why are you being so nice?
Do you want people to like you? If so then being nice is not the way to go since people don’t really like nice people they like what they can do for them, its different than being liked. Think of it this way, you are carrying two buckets of water 4 miles away from you home and you really want to do something else, a person who is nice will offer to carry the buckets for you and you can run off and do what you enjoy. You appreciate what you enjoy more than the fact that someone helped you. Now if the person offered to help you and you gave them only one bucket and you walked together; then you appreciate them and the help since you are not unloading the burden solely on the person helping while you did something else.

Is it so you can get into heaven, if you even believe in heaven and all that jazz? Nice people don’t get into heaven good people do. A person that is “too nice” would probably help rob a bank if asked (an extreme) or at very least help someone hide out for getting caught from some sort of wrong action (not so extreme or unlikely) where as a good person would not. There is a huge difference between being good and nice, it is hard sometimes to see the difference.

Are you going to one day look back and feel good about how nice you have been, or are you going to see hundreds of missed opportunities from scarifies you have made for someone else?
Is it because you believe in being nice? Struggle hard for what you believe in.

Unfortunately in Western Society it is possible to be too nice, but there is a difference between being very nice and being walked all over. The other extreme of just making yourself number 1 and walking over others is not all that ideal either.

As a pushover you will find it hard to live with yourself more and more, as others try to live your life for you. As #1 you will end up living by yourself because no one will trust you or want to live with someone that has no consideration for others.

This is a tough one to answer, you just have to make sure that this niceness is a personality trait not a character trait. That is that it fulfills you and provides you with much love and support, and that its not something that leaves you with, well... nothing.

You can be too nice and there are lots of people all ready to exploit that trait. My youngest daughter is like this. Drives me nuts. She has toughened up some as she is slowly getting tired of her friends using her and taking her things without her permission and never returning them. It does not have anything to do with her loving herself but the fact she does not like to be mean to anyone. If she even thought she hurt someones feelings she would chastise herself until she was able to apologize. She goes out of her way to speak to the kids at school who are not the social elite and may be picked on. If more people were like her the world would be a much happier place. She is not permissive and does not let her friends talk her into things she knows are wrong.

Without knowing more than what you have written or what is behind someones statement that was made to you, I hope this information will help.

I do not feel being to rude, nice, mean etc...can be too much if no one is getting hurt, physically or mentally. That being said if your being nice and you feel hurt then there is a problem someone is getting hurt, and you should seek counseling. If you feel happy or good to do something nice but want something in return even something simple like being noticed or rewarded, or notoriety then you should still seek counseling. If you feel good about doing something nice, and want to stay anonymous, your fine as long as no one is being hurt.

Case in point you give something maybe even just your time but someone is jealous, someone just got hurt.

Yes, it is possible to be too nice - when you sacrifice your own interests for other people's interests. Try being demanding in a relationship for once and see how different that feels. If you feel guilty when you make demands, you will know that it is really possible for other people to 'walk all over you'. Everyone has the right to be demanding about the things that are most important to them.

Yes it is possible to be nice. People will get used to it and take advantage of that personality trait. I am not saying being nice is bad, it just has to be used in the appropriate situations. There are times to say no, be angry and not so nice. Just have a happy medium and be balanced.

Yes it is possible to be too nice. Don't let people run over you. You have to learn how to say no sometimes. Being too nice does not mean you don't care about yourself. Always love yourself if nobody else does.

There are two answers to this question: yes and no! Let me explain: yes, it is possible to be too nice if you are doing things for others and you feel used afterward; no, if you enjoy doing things out of kindness and you feel doing nice things for people is the right choice to make, for you.

Don't pay too much attention to what other people think. There is so much negativity around us---the world needs people like you, who are nice!

No it's not possible to be to nice. It is possible for some not so nice people to take advantage of you though. Work on seeing people for what they really are, not just what they say. If someone is only taking advantage of your good nature, find someone else to help. Could be they think you are naive, so learn to read people. That should come more as you age tho. Could be you need to put your good intentions to work in a public place where you may not be taken advantage of such as volunteering at your local hospital, shelter, nursing home....Or think of a career in helping others such as a nurse, CNA, ....

Well you can be really nice or just really permissive. It's always good to be pleasant.Even if people don't appreciate, I think it fulfills me and others that do appreciate. It could be that other people just aren't nice and criticize those who are because that's what they're missing. It could also be that you're a bit of a pushover. You just need to know if someone is disrespecting you or abusing you, you should tell them straight up you're nice not stupid. But I wouldn't change being nice because of that.
