I'm sorry to say this, but I think he's on his way out. From what you've described it sounds like he has a problem with his swim bladder, and this is a problem that very rarely has a good outcome.

I would keep an eye on him for a little while, and if he doesn't improve with the next few hours I think your best bet would be to humanely euthanize the fish.

Good luck.
E.

The problem is the swimming bladder. This is caused by a few reasons, but the most common is when your tank is not cycled and amonia or nitrite levels are high. Another reason can be over feeding or improper feeding.
try doing the following
1-Raising the water temperature by 3 degrees
2-feed it pees
3-add a little saltwater salt

It could most likely be a swim bladder disease. This organ is used to maintain position under water. It's a hard disease to cure especially since fish become lethargic(don't eat) when they have this disease. Hopefully your fish will make it through. Good luck to you and your gourami.
