Well, you have to be 21 to drink. But at some neighborhood bars, you see people bringing their kids in and nobody really minds. It's like the old Irish pub atmosphere where the whole family goes to the bar. The kids don' drink, of course, but the owner lets them in as long as there's no trouble. It you mean a bar with a restaurant attached, anyone can come in, but to be in the bar area you probably have to be 21. As far as hip clubs and stuff like that, strictly 21... unless you're Lindsey Lohan or something...

21. But there are actually some bars (very very few) that require you to be 23 or even 25 or 30.

some say 21, some want older folks and ask for 23 or 25. legal age is 21 in illinois for both men and women.

the legal age to drink alcohol in the u.s.a. is 21. but some bars will let an underage person come in if they are attended with
a person of legal limit, they just won't be allowed to partake
alcohol.
