I'm guessing it's...I do it a lot...any advice?
Even though I'm a straight A student, it never seems like enough...I tend to go for 95% or up. If I don't reach that, then I feel so worthless (I label myself for being dumb, even though I accpet everyone around me is better even if they do drugs and fail art.class-is that possible?)...what should I do?

i understand what u're trying to say. I used to be like that (well not as good as you)..but i think it hit me later in life, that life isn't about how smart u are, how u look, and what u are. U kno u cud be the smartest person, but what good is it gonna do in life if you keep tormenting urself over it and not accept the painful reality of life? Im not trying to say that being dumb is good all the sudden. To answer, ur question, it is bad idea to base self-worth and value of your intelligence to some extent. Later in life, ur intelligence isn't going to matter as much as it does now..what's gonna matter is your content of character and ur contentedness w/ it.

Self worth is based on more than just grades and intelligence. I had the same problem as you. I worked so hard i burned myself out. Im relaxing and i have a fair amount of general knowledge, but I find that I am much happier doing things I enjoy and finding other strengths of mine. For example, I found that I am a really good listener and a good coach for basketball. What you need to do is sit down and ask yourself if you are truely happy just with your grades. It sounds like youre not, so try and look at yourself and think about what else you are good at. Explore within yourself, and you will find your true passions and it will make you overall happier. Good luck. Im sure you will find something.

Given that you've asked, it seems that it IS a "bad idea" for YOU. It would probably be useful to investigate why you judge yourself so stringently when it comes to grades. Were your parents not accepting toward you unless you were academically "perfect"? I had an "Educational Pscyhology" professor who told my class that there are 4.0 Ed. students who he wouldn't want within 10 miles of HIS kids' classrooms, because these particular overacheivers wouldn't make very good teachers. Why DO you base self - worth on grades alone? This might be worth exploring.

I base my self-worth on what I know is my potential and what I am doing to reach that.
