what is the best way to get rid of rats in your barn?

i found one rat, found holes, what kills the best?
we have chickens

Seriously, get a cat and buy a plastic Owl or two you can mount on a pole thats well visible

i suggest that cats are best for getting rats. they are a natural predator of rats and my cats have never had a go at my chooks. just make sure that if you get a cat there is no rat poison left laying around and that any rats you have already given access to the poison are gone. and of course be a responsible owner and have your cat spayed. good luck!

i wouldn't use poision because most rats are amuned to it. the best thing to use would be humane traps because the cickens won't be able to get into them but the rats will go inside with a little bit of cheese or what ever you have around the house.

Glue traps are the best method to trap rats and mice.

More Cats . . . you don't want to use posion becuase the other animals can get in it. Or live traps where they don't kill them and then shoot the buggers! And that way if you happen to get one of your animals you can just turn it loose.

Try DeCon but keep it out of the area where the chickens would eat it. It works great.
