Sugar gliders are small Australian marsupials. They have become illegal in several countries but in the States they have become extremely popular. Though they are classified as exotic pets, they are one of the most common animals you can buy outside a generic pet store. The tiny animals are only a foot long at the most( Includes semi-prehensile tail) and are similar to flying squirrels. They have 'flaps' attached from their front legs to their back legs which allow them to glide-hence the name. The only reason they are illegal in certain countries is outdated laws and their endangerment in their natural habitat.

Sugar Gliders are like flying squirrels! You have to keep them paired up....so you will need two! They are mostly out at night. You will see them a little during the day but not much! I will tell you this they love sweet potato baby food. We have two at the pet shop that I work at and you will be amazed how many people seems interested in them once they see them for the first time. We named the ones the shop April and Mookey! They are cute!!!!!

I just recently "met" one. It was really small, like a hamster, and liked to hide in pockets. The owner said the sugar glider was really tame and great with kids, but it bit my friend and drew blood. It also urinated on her. From what I understand, sugar gliders have fairly small bladders and cannot be potty trained. They go where they go!

They are very cute little animals, but they're definitely not for everyone.

Sugar Gliders are soft fuzzy creatures that have large eyes for seeing at night. A FULL GROWN Glider is about the size of a standard hamster (not 2 feet).
