What could be the problem???

My computer is not working. I log in to my desktop but when I try to open a folder, Internet explorer, windows media or any other file, it doesn't open.
What can I do to fix it?

Your OS is corrupt try a "system restore" if that dosent work try a "system recovery"

Well try to use the system restore
or try to reinstall windows.
