my OS is windows xp home edition, So there are no IIS. I have visualStudio.net 2003 installed on my laptop. however, I can develope web applicatons using ASP.net cus No IIS installed on my computer. can i install visual web developer express edition without problems or it will cause me problems when working within visualstudio.net? plz help

You won't have any problems..... Maybe safer to say I didn't have any problems with side-by-side installation of VS.Net2003 and VS 2005 Express Editions.

I had once Visual Studio 2003, Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 all installed at the same time with no problems; just remember, that for Web Development with Asp.NET that IIS will be configured with either .net framework 1.1 or 2.0 at a time.
Regarding SQL Server 2005, it is possible to create databases compatible with earlier versions such for SQL Server 2000, perhaps it's possible some how to create .net applications under 2.0 which would be compatible with 1.1; haven't said that (it's obvious that each 1.1 code would work under 2.0 but not versa vice). If that holds true, then it's clear that you would not be needing to install Visual Studio 2003 or SQL Server 2000; I guarantee you that you won't need SQL Server 2000, but can't guarantee you about VS 2003; however, you can be assured that both would not clash being installed on the same machine.
