I hate my job... It is so slow all I do is sit in front of a computer all day long and record the same information in about 10 different places for like 5 different people and even though I have a good overall track record, the second a little human error occurs I hear about it for weeks. Even if it is as small as a dash in one place and a slash in another about 300 lines down! I am so tired of "we need to be through and consistent" DO IT YOUR SELF YOU LAZY *****! I am going insane my I can't stand my 2 co-workers or my boss who comes in once a week thinking he knows what is going on. I have almost no human contact. Every day I put in my 8 hours of solitary confinement in my 8x10 cell.

BLAH

I feel like I can't leave. I can't find another job I want or support myself with. I am thinking of quitting and filing for unemployment or something. The only reason I stay is I have amazing benifits here, wich I can't afford not to have.

What sould I do? I am about to climb a clock tower

If you quit and start drawing on unemployment, it will be difficult to find a new (more exciting job). Check with your company HR office to see if there are other open positions for you in the same place, otherwise, dust off your resume and start searching:

I have been there!!! My 'cell' was a job I had about 17 years ago when I lived in Va Beach. I shared a cell with 3 other people, we were crammed into our little space along with a billion file cabinets of dust and mold. I had THE worst boss EVER, he was rude and insulting and . . . well, you get it.
Hmm - I had a thought: Can you file for unemployment if you quit??
Start watching people while you're out, to see what they do and how much they like their jobs. (keeping in mind that even the most 'fun' job sucks at times) What sounds/looks the most interesting to you? Use the 'net and look up positions and companies that you've seen. Sometimes it's worth the pay cut to get something a little more fun or less stressful. Maybe that would take two part time jobs to fulfill the need.
I find myself at a point in life where I am also at an in-between time (sold my business and waiting for my husband to pick his job so we can move or not). In the meantime, I found a fabulous mystery shopper job and have increased my skincare sales (I have been a part time MK rep for nearly 3 years).
(be careful looking for mystery shopper jobs - you should NEVER pay for that; there are plenty of companies out there willing to pay you)
You interested in looking into MK? Check out my website (see 'source). Contact me if you have questions. I LOVE it!

You can't find another job you want?? Why in the world not? I can't imagine that you can't find another job that is better than this one and gives benefits...it doesn't sound like that would be difficult given how sucky this job sounds. My advice to you is: quit whining, get off your heiny, and spend at LEAST a half hour a night on the internet looking for a new job. I just finished going through this process, and it took me 3 months, but now I finally have a job. I'm sure you can find something a lot more quickly. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, get out there and DO SOMETHING.

I know it's not a very good situation to be in. I realize benefits like insurance etc.. are important but, at what cost? Are the benefits worth staying in a place that you not with? Maybe going back to school and getting a degree in something you really want to do. I'm in a similar situation so, I understand your feelings. I do think your happiness is really important no matter how good the benefits are. I would lean toward really trying to get out of that little cell you dislike so much.

Keep looking for a new job. Don't leave this one until you have another one lined up. How long can you survive on unemployment? There are other jobs out there and if you look hard enough you will find one.

Please don't climb a clock tower, especially if you live in NC.

welcome to the working world-sounds like the job I had.....for 8 years......if you hate it that much, id say your days are numbered there, we can only handle so much punishment and then eventually you will leave because you just wont care. think about what you would like to do, and if you need to go back to school, then do it! you should at least be content in your job.
