Pitting Edema?
I am 30 weeks pregnant and have swollen legs and feet. By all the research I have done on the internet, I also have Pitting Edema. When I press on my leg or ankle it leaves an indentation. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I be concerned?

I can assure you that I have never been pregnant (it is so hard to be a man now days).
Only joking, but I know all about edema when my wife was pregnant. And once on a Greek island,I stupidly, got too much sun and had edema on my feet.
I am sure that your research on the net, will tell you that this is caused by a build up of tissue fluid and that elevation should help. But it would be a good idea to tell your doctor on your next call.Good luck and I hope everything goes well with you.

If you have notified your doctor about this problem and your blood pressure is okay and you have no protein in your urine I would say that you are fine, but you need to keep an eye on it. This is just due to water retention. I would be more concerned if you start getting swelling in your face and hands. If this starts to become a problem I would make an extra trip to the doctor. And if you start getting headaches, this may be a precursor that you may become pre-eclamptic, but for now I would just make sure you are not on your feet too much and when you are sitting down make sure your feet are elevated.
Good luck with your pregnancy!
