Hello Mel.
Because we would feel a lot better if we knew that we ourselves were of some value to others, most people have great opinion of themselves, and to an extent this could well be justified by the people that know them personally, and the opinionated ones feel good for the rate of value others hold in them, I would much sooner do some one a good favour than to ignore their needs of that favour, and enjoy the luxury of knowing that they hold me in good estimation for their being able to rely on me, true Value indeed Mel.
So Yes. we need to value people a lot, because you are going to find out in time who your real friends are, and the strength, in their regard, of Your Friendship. The saying goes "Every body needs somebody, sometimes"Think on this point, do you value the love of your wife? your parents? and my friendship in answering your most exellent question? of course you do, my cost to you for valueing my friendship? Nothing Mel, No charge, sir, you are most welcome my friend. Bye for now.................Tony M.........

We don't.
We need to value children.
Too many are wasted by the time they are adults and do nothing that justifies valueing them anymore.
My daughter told a taxi driver this morning she had a fall. Taxi driver told her that was a stupid thing to do! My daughter is not used to being spoken down on as if she is part of the furniture. She looked at me really confused. I told her it wasn't stupid to hurt your knee. Just a bit silly to run downhill because because it can be dangerous. She understood that.
My old boss told his then 2.5-year old he was stupid once too. The kid was making faces with the greenery on carrots whilst in a shopping trolly.
Why should i value people that can not even value their own?
Nah. I don't value people these days untill they give me reason to do so.

Because it's a basic human requirement to be needed and valued.

Because you are a human being too. Why should we hate each other because we don't agree on something or because of our skin color, our beliefs? If you don't value people and judge somebody because that person is not good looking, then you got a problem.

not neccessarily. though of course everyone deserves to be treated equally, fairly and with respect. but there are those who intend on throwing it back in our face by being rude and disrespectful. we should only value people, if those people value us and treat us like human beings

Don't you want people to value you? It's all about respecting others. Everyone deserves it.
