Check out the scene where Robin takes Maid Marion back to the Great Oak hideout. Robin (very much like a midevil FDR) is an aristocrat feeding the people who have fallen on hard times. He dosen't care what ethnicity they are, he just wants them to get back on their feet after the cruel depredations of the other aristocrats (corrupt Prince John, much like the barons of industry that caused the Depression).

During the depression, homeowners and farm owners were displaced by forclosures on their mortgages. Bank officers and sheriffs came to evict them. There were movements by neighbors to meet the bank officers and sheriffs with force to prevent them.

There is a similar situation today with loan officers of banks who were eager to grant "subprime" loans to poor people with weak credit credentials. These were people who had low income or poor histories of payment in the past. These were loans that were to have no interest at first, but balloon to "regular" interest later (later has become "now"). Some loan officers granted mortgages on the basis of the person's statement of his/her income, without checking. Now we are about to see huge numbers of foreclosures and people evicted from their houses.

In "Robin Hood," a handsome fellow in Lincoln green tights waylays agents of the king in the forest, who are carrying tax money. Robin takes the unjustly collected tax money and redistributes it to the people.

In your homework, you can look ahead to see the President, the Congress, and other government people working to stave off a rebellion by homeowners and other property owners by pretending to be Robin Hood and confiscate the evil gains of the bankers who granted the ooky mortgages. In this story, either the President, a Senator, a Congressman, or a Governor will swoop down out of the forest, dressed in tights, to waylay a banker traveling with mortgage money.
