I have built a website on geocities.com and have put in meta keywords. I want the site to get exposure for our books we have written or are writing.
Is there a procedure to get our website listed?

After that you have to add keywords through out your website...........

Yes. There is a procedure.
As example Google use an automated web spider (web robot) to analyse the internet sites.
You have to submit your URL to google, (www.google.com/addurl)
So web robot will visit your site. but this make some time.
But there is rapid way.
Adsense and Adwords are rapid ways to earn money while populor in WWW.
