Is Ernest Gaines that great an author?

Ok it's a good thing to write about ethnic groups, but don't you need a bit more to be a real great writer?

We is good enough that he was he was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for fiction for his 1993. This quite an accomplishment for any writer but again there is the question of content and ability.

I would have to say that art is in the eye of the beholder/reader and if you want the answer to this question you may have to read his works and judge for yourself.
