For one cigars are not an alternative to cigarettes. Black and Milds are not real cigars IMHO, and inhaling them are horrible for your lungs. If you try to inhale a real cigar you will immediately regret it because your lungs will probably feel like you just swallowed a stick of dynamite.
Unlike cigarettes, Cigars (real handmade premium cigars) are all natural tobacco. No chemicals for "flavor". If you are worried about your health lay off the tobacco in general. Cigars are an art form and should be enjoyed like one.

Yes, it's still bad.
Sigmund Freud smoked cigars without inhaling. He died from cancer of the lip.
Good info here, including stuff about increased cancer risk in non-inhaling cigar smokers:
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PED/content/PED_10_2X_Cigar_Smoking.asp?sitearea=PED
And remember, even if you don't inhale when your mouth is on it, you're sitting in a cloud of smoke, inhaling the smoke you puff out, and the smoke pouring off the end of it. That stuff is full of cancer causing agents too.
Chewing tobacco also is closely associated with cancers of the lips, tongue, gum, and throat.
BTW, I'm not an anti-smoker nazi. I smoke a pack a day.

As others noted, you aren't supposed to inhale cigars, the nicotine crosses over your tongue/mouth into your bloodstream.
You can get mouth/tongue etc cancer. Frequency obviously matters a lot - smoking cigars daily vs 2 a month is going to have different risk levels.

I don't know if it's bad, but it sure is a waste of cigarettes.Don't smoke just to smoke.I started smoking because I was stressed, but got addicted. So,I guess not really inhaling it is better than inhaling it, because inhaling it can give you lung cancer, and make everything taste weird...but not inhaling it is just gross, and I'm sure some molecules on your tongue die which will cause cancer.

Yes, this is still BAD. Nicotene from these is still absorbed through the mucosa inside your mouth. So even though you dont inhale into your lungs, you are still giving yourself the risk of cancer, especially in your mouth.

how are you smoking the cigar if you are not inhaling? You burn it and rub it on your tongue? It is probably still bad, but you'll be okay as long as you don't get addicted or make a habit out of it

It seems to me I read an article about cancer and second hand smoke and cancer. Just how much are you willing to risk?
