In my opinion, you should narrow down the TYPE of movie/book you are looking for (horror, classic, children's, modern, fiction, nonfiction, etc). Nonetheless, here are some I
think of off the top of my head (Besides all of those already listed):

Nearly all of Stephen King's novels (and some short stories) including:
Carrie
Cujo
The Stand
The Shawshank Redemption
Salem's Lot
Misery
Rose Madder
The Shining
Creepshow
Pet Semetary
Children of the Corn
(oh this list could go on and on)

But then there are other good ones that Stephen King had nothing to do with:
The Grapes of Wrath
The Devil Wears Prada
Bridge to Terebithia
Children of Men
Sounder
Old Yeller
Just about every Disney movie ever made is based on a folktale or book
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Matilda
Dead Man Walking
The House of Spirits
I'm Not Scared
Persuasion
The Hours
Sense and Sensibility
Pride and Prejudice
Almost all of Charles Dickens' books
Jane Eyre
Midwives
Beloved
The Color Purple
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Running with Scissors
DaVinci Code
The Good Earth
My Left Foot
Jurassic Park
Girl with a Pearl Earring
Girl in Hyacinth Blue
In Cold Blood
House of Sand and Fog
Like Water for Chocolate
White Oleander
Finding Fish
Everything is Illuminated
The Firm
Bee Season
Memoirs of a Geisha
Cheaper by the Dozen
Snow Falling on Cedars
Amityville Horror
The Silence of the Lambs (et al)
Their Eyes Were Watching God
Seabiscuit
Hoot
The Safety of Objects
The Maltese Falcon
A Wrinkle in Time
To Kill a Mockingbird
Moby Dick
Peyton Place
Shopgirl
The Night Listener
The Women of Brewster Place
Lolita
The Wizard of Oz
Interview with a Vampire
Harry Potter (et al)
The Human Stain
The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio
Nearly every Shakespeare play
Holes
Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events books
Fast Food Nation
Riding the Bus with My Sister
Charlotte's Web
Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress
The Mosquito Coast
Harvest Home
Big Fish

I did not include:
Christine
It
The Dead Zone
The Road to Wellville
Coma
Where the Heart Is
The Five People You Meet in Heaven
The Bridges of Madison County
Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
In Her Shoes
War of the Worlds
and a few other obvious ones because they were not, in my opinion, "good" books.

Don't know if this is what you were looking for - but there it is!

"Get Shorty," by Elmore Leonard.

The movie is very good, but the original novel from which it was made is 100 times better.
