I hate the feeling of a pad too, it feels like you're wearing a diaper...LOL. I love tampons because there easy to use and it keeps you feeling clean. As long as you change your tampon frequently and use the lowest absorbency possible, you'll be fine. There are risks of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) which yes you can die from but as long as you use the tampon correctly you shouldn't worry. I've been using them for 9 years and I'm perfectly happy with them. When you buy them there will be instructions on how to use them in the box. Good Luck!

There is a small risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome, but that could only occur if you wore the tampon for over 6 hours, and is still highly unlikely. Make sure to change it frequently, and it's a good idea to wear a panty liner in case anything leaks out. Tampax Pearl Plastic is a great kind to start out with, because it has a very easy to use launcher, and is very comfortable. Once it's in you usually can't even feel it, and there's none of the wet or diaper-y feeling of a pad. With a tampon in you can swim and play other sports, and I personally feel less self-concious. Just follow the instructions on the box, and ask your mom or sister for help or support if you need it. There's no pain at all. I know that it seems weird at the beginning, but soon it will get to be second nature, and you'll be soooooo glad that you started wearing tampons!

Tampons are loaded with chemicals. Dioxin is a chemical which is used to make them white (to look "clean and sanitary"). This chemical is what can cause Toxic Shock Syndrome.
IF you are going to use tampons, use an unbleached tampon (this actually applies to pads too, they are also bleached white).
I would suggest using the Diva cup though: you can leave it in for 12 hours!! It's a silicone cup that you put inside you but not as far in as tampons. You have to empty it out 2 times a day, but it is so so so much safer and easier than tampons. Plus, it's good for the environment!
PS: it takes a little practice at first, but then you'll see how easy it is after a few times.

It depends on what you would like to do. I personaly would use a pad. Because i wouldn't like the feeling of a tampon going in me. Im the type of person that thinks getting a shot really, really, hurts. If your ready for a tampon, jump in! But if you are not ready and don't think that your ready just stick with pads for now.
I don't think that you can die from an inffection. It could be bad. But i don't think you could littlerly die from it.
HOPE THIS HELPS!

I find using tampons more comfortable. You would be better off to get the tampon with the plastic inserter thing, they are easier to use and less messy. If you have heavy periods you would need to change them every 4-5 hours but if not every 6-7 hours should be ok. you will know when they have been in too long, you will get a little pain in the lower part of your stomach. Best of luck!!

You should be careful about using tampons. They're made from cotton, which is grown in normal fields and can have pesticides and other harmful things on it. If you DO decide to use them, buy organic tampons. They are MUCH safer.
They aren't the best idea for some people. If you would still rather use a pad but hate it, you could use thinner ones and change them more often. You will probably get used to them quicker than you think.
Hope this helps!

First of all, YOU WILL NOT DIE OF INFECTION!! I think you should ask your mom about it and see what she thinks. Some ppl think only non virgins can use tampons....LIARS!
Try em out there are a lot of situations u will need 2 wear them or miss out on things ..... p.s. it does hurt the first or second time you try them dont be worried about tht if you take a hot bath and relax in it that helps a lot and then like the third or 4th time u try em u wont feel em at all! Ooh and be careful that u put them in the rite spot lol

The only thing that could be fatal is toxic shock syndrome, or TSS. This is extremely rare, I'm talking one in thousands. Most tampons that have caused this aren't even sold in the US anymore. However, changing your tampon every four to six hours would diminish this already tiny disease.
Tampons are a great choice. I would suggest Tampax Pearl or Playtex Sport...you can't even feel them. Good luck, sweetheart!

No. Im 13 and i use tampons theyre not like wearing a diaper and theyre was better. All you need to know is how to put them in right or it hurts and youll know. [theres instructions in the box] and that one guy ^ is lying you can leave it in for more then 6 hours without dying if your bleeding heavily you might bleed through but thats the worst.

As long as you follow the directions on the box regarding the size you need for the amount of blood flow, and take it out every few hours, you will be fine. Many women use tampons every month and have no side effects. As long as you follow their recommendations on the box you will be fine.
They are awkward to use at first, but you will get used to inserting them. The box shows you how to insert them. You can either squat or put one leg up on a toilet.
