You have to register to vote and register yourself as a democrat. Once you're registered as a democrat, in the year before the election they'll hold the Democratic Primary, where you'll be able to vote for your choice of who should run.

You're thinking of the primary election.

There are two steps to the national presidential election. The first is the primary, where all of the candidates for each party basically run only against the other candidates in their party to see who will be nominated to run against the opposing party's candidate.

The presidential election is where only one Democrat runs against only one Republican.

The primaries are held at varying times and many locations depending on the state in which you live. If you are registered to vote, you will get a notice in the mail from your registrar of voters telling you where your voting precinct is located and what times it is open on primary and election day.

The Democratic party will hold primaries in January, which will whittle down all the candidates to one. It the same with the republicans.
Yet the news media will help pick the one that they want for President, not the public, or the Dem's.
The News media then will start to push the candidate they want with good stories, and bad stores for the one they do not want, and yes they will not cover any 3rd, 4th or 5th etc candidates..
Only the 2 which have tons of money to give the news media.

You'll get a chance to vote in the primary election. After that, the parties will tally up the votes and select their candidates. Later, you vote in the presidential election

In January they have what they call the primary elections. In these elections, you can only vote for presidential candidates in the party you are registered in. The winner then goes on the November ballett, where you can vote for any of the "finalists" in any party.

The primaries are the elections that take place in early 2008 during which you select WHICH democrat you want. If that person doesn't win, you decide whether or not you will support the democrat who was selected. In November, you choose which person you want for president.

There are primaries before the presidential election. If you are a Dem, you vote in the Dem primaries, if you are a Rep, you vote in the Rep primaries. If you are undecided, you may or may not get to vote in a primary.

Any democrat who wants to can run but right now they're going to be running in what's called a primary. That's when the different parties decide who will represent them and where they will spend their money. For info on when and where you primary is call your local Registar office.

Either you vote in the primaries/caucases or else you write-in your candidate.

You can be like the Draft Hillary movement that didn't get very far in 2004.
