Birth Control. I have to get some opinions for my research paper and I need to know whether or not you guys think that birth control should be available to teens and whether their parents should be notified when their child is seeking birth control.

Any person who feels that they are ready to have sex (regardless of age) should be able to get birth control. A young girl knows in her head already if she's going to. She should be protected from unwanted pregnancy. Parents should realize that their little angels are going to experiment and react accordingly. Locking a girl in her room won't stop it. Yes parents should know and they should be glad that their daughter was smart enough to seek protection.

I really do not understand the problem with giving a teen birth control.....girls being on the pill or boys having condoms does not make them have sex what parents have to realize is that teens are going to have sex if they want to no matter what....so why not have them protected from pregnancy and sexual transmitted disease....I am a mother of a 22 month old son and he will be well informed on birth control as well as disease..

I think it should be available for anyone who is old enough to get pregnant and has even the slightest inkling of having sex. Parental notification is a tough call. Not everyone comes from a loving family and parental notification could lead to physical abuse in some cases. I don't think it should be automatic.
