So you're saying that you haven't gotten it for the first time, correct?
Weight, height, all that stuff doesn't really have much to do with it. It's an age thing. And everybody starts getting it a different age.
You're more than likely going to get it sometime after you turn 11. Most girls will get it around 11, 12, 13 or so. Some come a bit earlier, some a bit later. It'll come when your body is ready, so don't fret about it unless you're much older than that, say 15, 16 or so. If you're younger than that, just give it time.

Believe me you don't want it!!! All girls start at different times, I started when I was 9 and was soooo depressed, whereas I have a friend who didn't start getting them until she was 15. There isn't really anything you can do to make it come along quicker, it's just a case of hormones and you can't really control them.
As for why you get a period... hmm, little biology lesson is about to start.
Well, basically your womb (where a baby would grow) lines itself wth blood when each of your eggs are released (once a month-ish) so that if the egg were going to b fertilised by sperm the egg wuld be able to attach itself to the wall of the womb. When the egg does not get fertilised the blood that lined the womb walls exits in the form of menstral blood (period) and the cycle starts all over again.
Hope that helped! And be glad that you haven't started - it's verrry annoying!!

Sweetie, I didn't get my period until I was almost fourteen, and I was one of the last girls in my class to get it. I thought there was something wrong with me too. How old are you? secondly, to my knowlege, there isn't anything you can do that will make it come faster. I don't think you're crazy because like I said, I wanted mine too when mine wouldn't come.

What makes your period is when you produce a mature egg, and it comes down from your ovary and into your uterus. It takes about a month. Thats why your period comes once a month. The egg sits in your uterus for a day waiting to be fertilized and if its not fertilized, then the lining of your uterus gets really thick. Your body needs to get rid of the lining of your uterus somehow, so it sheds it, and when it does, you get your period.

I know some girls who didn't get their period until they were fifteen, and some who got it when they were ten. Don't worry about it girl. It will come. Don't be worried.

Girls get "the curse" at different points in their life. Some don't get it until they're 17 or 18. Don't worry about it. In fact, enjoy it!

Every month the lining in the uterus grows in preparation for a baby. If the egg is not fertilized, it comes out of the body with the bloody lining-your period. Hope that's not too graphic.

How old are you? Have you never had it? I was quite old by the time I got it for the first time (almost 17).

To answer you question about what it is - as part of the fertility cycle hormones are released that cause the lining of the uterus to build up in preparaton for implantation of a fertilized egg if a women gets pregnant. When you don't get pregnant, different hormones get released and it causes this build up of the uterine lining to slough off - voila! you get your period. Then the cycle starts again.

It doesn't matter how tall you are, how thin you are, or how young you are. It all depends on your body and how it wants to work... If you really feel like your desperate and you have to find out...just call and make a visit with your regular doctor. Ask questions, how could that hurt??? It may just be that your body is not mature enough or that in some "God forbidden" case you may have complications in fertilization.

Height and weight have nothing to do with your period... age is the factor... Girls usually start between 11-14 years old... The discharge that you get is the lining of the uterus. Every Month the uterus ripens itself for the fertilized egg...When nothing happens after 28-32 days it is expelled... This cycle occurs month after month until a woman is in menopause

You should be getting your period if you are between 12 and 18, but it may happen that your body is not fully developed even if you are very tall. There are cases in which girls up to 21 haven't gotten their period due to problems in their ovaries, so it all depends on how old you are.

You didn't say how old you are. Some girls don't get it until they are 14. Doesn't matter how fat, thin or how tall you are.

Believe me ... .when you get it you will wish you hadn't.

If you are worried go see your doctor, or better still have a chat with your mum/aunty/older sister.
