In Word 97-2003:
Right-click on the picture and go to Format Picture
Selec the Layout tab
Click Advanced
Select the text wrapping style you want, then click OK.
In Word 2007:
Right-click on the picture and go to Text Wrapping.

In order to type next to a picture In Microsoft Word you need to select the picture then push the arrow on the keyboard in the direction you want to type. Then, you can start typing.

Hi. When you have the picture in the Microsoft Word, right click. Go to Format Object in the menu that pops up . Go to wrapping tab , put tight. then move the picture to the left and type.

Create a table with one row and two columns, right click on the table and select 'Borders & Shading' and make the border invisible. Then put the pic in the first col and type in the second.
