I think most Republicans want everyone in America to have health care, they just don' the government responsible. Do you want the same institution handling your health care that:

Can barely provide adequate public schools for children?
Has mad a mockery of Social Security, which is quickly spinning down the drain?
Can't handle the WAR IN IRAQ (you Liberals should understand that)
Can't keep homeless people off the streets, and in shelters?
Couldn't rescue the people from New Orleans? (yes, I am from there, and I know it was the local govt's fault, but since people always blame Bush, I'll please them)?
Can't keep child molesters off the streets?

Do you REALLY want these people handling healthcare? I mean, does the government do ANYTHING competent?

How about a $3000 tax credit (or however much for a good health plan. Mine is about 3 grand) for all individuals? Let THEM decide which plan to choose.

Liberals are all about personal freedom. So let us have the FREEDOM of health care.

---BTW, I know some Liberals will say "Some people's taxes are too high, so they will use that money for food". Well, if we get nationalized health care, their taxes sure won't go down any, so they won't have that money anyway!!

SO please use SOME economic knowledge in answering this question...

1.) I think that the federal govt should fund basic healthcare for children and the indigent.

2.) It should also sponser a mandatory health saving account process for all businesses which would provide tax credits to both the employer and employee.

3.) It should establish a nationalize private medical insurance plan and dictate a minimum standard policy and use a right determined by its current Medicare/Medicaid cost structure...and force providers to accept the MC/MC reimbursement rates...or forfeit their license to practice. The minimum plan should require any carrier that offers it to accept 100% of its applicants.

4.) It should cap medical malpractice lawsuits in a plan similar to what Indiana has...upto 250K to be split between lawyer and claimant, and an additional 750K that the lawyer cannot touch.

Well, I know the redstaters pull down our average, but I figure we're as smart as the europeans and canadians. They make their health care work so well, the democracies there keep voting over and over to keep their health care.

Just because the republicans have been trying to destroy America's infrastructure doesn't mean govt hasn't always done a heck of a job delivering service.

Our miltary is awesome - they aren't winning in Iraq, because winning is not what bush wanted there. Iraq is all about Bush and his friends stealing billions of dollars - plus getting to vicarioulsy enjoy torture.

Since we've already seen the lousy job done by corporate america with health care - and since as the daughter of a career navy man I've already enjoyed u.s. govt health care - I know we'll do just fine actually using our resources for the people instead of for enriching the insatiable fat cats.

And by the way, dear, the freedom to die from untreated cancer or diabetes is what we call 'a strange kind of freedom' - republican freedom, i guess.

Because they have built a steady reputation for self-serving greed, and national healthcare is socialist in nature (not that that's bad, but the neocons have been trained to have a seizure at mention of the word.) When they stop thinking that a free market is the answer to every moral problem, maybe people will think they've discovered compassion.

The institution you are speaking of is presently headed by the Republican Party which is in charge of the government. And you are correct: they haven't provided adequate public schools, they have screwed up things in Iraq, they haven't helped the Katrina victims, they have failed the American people miserably in the past few years. Therefore, it's time to give another Party a shot at it. You make a real good ad for the Democrats.

In Ohio, the government is placing people off Welfare to private insurance companies. Guess what? Those insurance companies are making it so they cannot receive the proper care. They make them jump through more hoops than the average person who is getting insurance from their jobs.

Example: The client I had cannot get the veins in her legs treated. She is still trying to get the insurance company Welfare placed her on to fix her problem so she CAN CONTINUE WORKING. The doctor told her she will be in a wheelchair within 5 - 10 years if it is not fixed.

The problem is not FREEDOM, it is the GREED of COMPANIES in this country...

Agreed.

I am so right wing I make Rush Limbaugh look like Pelosi.

I would love to see everyone have health care, but I sure do not want my taxes to sky rocket so that the lazy of this land can continue to sit around and suck the well dry.

Healthcare is a commodity like anything else. If you want some then by all means....go ahead and purchase some.

But keep your grubby hands out of my pocket and pay for it yourself!

if there was another way- even like you suggested- most would be willing to try.

I wish there was an insurance comp who would give health care to workers who aren't offered it at their jobs.

-even with universal healthcar those willing to pay can use private insurance
