They will never work because the fool driving the SUV cannot connect his love of burning oil and running over children in his huge blind spots to the worldwide demand for oil and how it keeps the region unstable and the US depended on the likes of the Saudis. His mind is to occupied by listening to corporate hate radio, watching FOX re-runs on his DVD player, and screaming about the liberal in Hollywood at 10 miles over the speed limit while his kids play violent videos games unbuckled in the back seat. He is just loving his peace and freedom. But the children of Iraq and Iran can't have peace. The people of Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and China can't have freedom, because we need cheap stuff from them to fatten corporate wallets and the American debt.

Whoa! You sure are getting the snot slapped out of you!
But the worst part is the fact that I am at the VA Hospital almost every week with my brother. There are so many young people coming back to the USA from Iraq and other locations that are almost not exactly alive, traumatic brain injury is not pretty. It would make you cry - not want to cry - just make you cry and pray that the world would change. Unfortunately, the ones that want this war are not going over to fight - and their children won't have to serve either. God Bless the WHOLE World - No Exceptions!

Well, assuming the cost of the ribbons is roughly 3$ each...and how almost none of that money goes to the soldiers....Why, it seems they have absolutely no effect other than saying "I support the troops, but not enough to go over there and help them out myself".
If I see a soldier, I thank them. I don't wear a ribbon on my car for it, I go and do it in person. It means a lot more, I'm told.
--------------------------
Yes, the money from the ribbons from that place is donated. But a majority of the ribbons sold are not a part of any donation run, they're sold to make money for a business. I did say "almost none".

It means every yellow magnet earns a Chinese child almost an entire penny!
Goodness forbid I spend ten bucks to chip in on a soldier some body armor.I mean how is everybody gonna see I support the troops?
Edit-I don't like hippies, nowhere on that site is there anywhere to purchase a ribbon that provides any financial support for anything troop related.

I think the answer is none.
And Mr. "I don't Like Hippies" -- where on that site can I purchase a yellow ribbon, the funds from which will go to our troops? I just can't find that part of the web site...

There is no way shrapnel can fly from Iraq all the way to Crawford TX. But no, it cannot stop the shrapnel from an RPG or IED from Iraq.

Where do people get the idea that these magnets do anything for our troops? They need to look into where the profits are going from these silly, ineffective ribbons. Certainly not the troops.
Some of the answers are so filled with hatred. I guess you hit a nerve.

Can we plaster you with them and send you over to find out?
Don't be so judgemental. Do you know the people you're sneering at? All of them? Doubt it. Don't question the motives of others - especially on an issue you obviously don't know much about. I live in a military community and have been told by the troops themselves that they like to see the yellow ribbons - it's good for their morale.

Saw a good bumper sticker the other day. "Slapping a yellow ribbon on the back of your gas guzzling SUV during a war for oil makes you look like a idiot."
