Yes. i may be a boy but i see girl hockey games all the time and i think it is silly that boys check and girls can't. Of course they can't let you check until your a peewee but after that boys and girls should be able to check.

Yes there should always be checking in hockey imo. This is a physical game that requires a cool head and agility under pressure. A good player would be able to keep control of the puck while taking physical abuse from the other team.

If a 6'6'' defenseman can pound on a 5'9'' (see NJ vs ANA stanley cup playoffs karyia hit by Stevens) forward and the forward can still score in the NHL why should people assume woman can't take the same abuse for their team. It almost goes back to a feminist issue of equality assuming that woman are more fragile then men, and should be looked at seriously in woman's hockey leagues.

I thought they were checking each other already and am surprised they aren't allowed. Should we treat both guys and girls the same? If you really want equality, should not NHL hockey become coed? And then the next question is how do you feel about fighting then? Would you feel comfortable seeing a guy pounding the crap out of some girl or vice versa? I think young girls should be allowed to check, but not tough hard checks like the pros. This goes for young guys too. Teens playing amateur hockey should not be exposed to expensive and chronic injuries that could effect other future career choices.

As long as they're dressed for it, I don't see why not. I've seen some roller derby where the way the women throw each other around the rink gets every bit as rough as a hockey game, so checking in hockey should be no big deal.

Of course. I played in a female hockey team for 2 years.

I'm going to wimp out and say "undecided". Women don't have as much size and strength, so they would be more prone to getting hurt. Of course the same argument could be used to say that the person DOING the checking couldn't do much damage.

We all like seeing hitting, but unlike many I am not going to sit here and say the sport is "figure skating" without it, it is still fun to watch.

If you are REQUIRING that I have a position I suppose I will say yes they should simply because I can't think of an overwhelming reason why not.

I think they should be able to if they wanted to. I have a neighbor who's a girl and played hockey. It may be a dangerous sport but girls can handle it just as well as guys.

Nope, since you asked the same question twice in a row, they shoudn't be allowed to play ice hockey at all. Field hockey is for girls.

Of course, I also think there should be more females in the NHL. There was the one back up goaltender for the Tampa Bay Lightning forever ago, but I do not think she plays anymore.
