please explain what happened in?

An American Haunting? I am probably being thick but I just didn't get the ending at all? Was there ever a ghost? Did the dad abuse the girl? If so, how did all the weird things happen? Im sooo confused! help

it was all about the dad abusing the girl... it was different and difficult to follow at times..

I was under the impression that he abused her.
