no no no, that`ll make it worse, and she`ll pick on them more because she`ll know they can`t take it since you talked to her. So i say no! :)

That probably depends on what they mean by "mean". Mean like they give too much homework, or mean like they don't feel comfortable enough to aproach them with a question.

I had science teacher who I hated to ask questions. She'd always sneer, "well, what part didn't you understand" which would just make me feel stupid in front of the class so I never asked questions. I would have appreciated someone aproaching her about her attitude. Needless to say, I didn't do well in that class and I loved science.

I've read some of these responses and I have to say I'm suprised a lot of people advised to not get involved. If a student aproaches a teacher with an honest concern it is the teacher's responsibility to try and help. Maybe going to the princepal is a better option than addressing it themselves but it should be addressed nonetheless. Not all teachers are cut out to be teachers.

If the teacher isn't actually mean, then it doesn't matter if they think she's mean. All kids will find fault with their teachers from time to time, and being "mean" doesn't necessarily mean the teacher is bad. She might just not take any crap from the kids. If the teacher really is mean, then telling her what the student said is only going to give her a reason to take it out on the kid.

No, especially if you are colleagues. If students are coming to you to talk about another teacher you may want to give them advise on how they can responsibly approach this teacher. Remember the code of conduct, and always stay professional. This teacher may be very strict but teaches the material well. She may not be popular with the students and may not be worried about that. If students are having serious issues that they can't resolve directly with the teacher, it is best that they speak to the principal.

It is none of your business unless the teacher is abusing them. Kids think strict is mean, its actually being kind instilling discipline. If you are another teacher you should NEVER insult a colleague. If you are a student you should NEVER insult a teacher and by the way anonymous insults are petty, childish and mean as well.

IF you truly were a teacher then you would know that the answer to that would be to find out what it is that makes the kids think the teacher is "mean"...The way you post gives away that you're really not a teacher but more than likely one of the kids who thinks a particular teacher is "mean".

I guess I tend to side with the adults in the building. I would tell them that they need to respect all adults in the building and that is something they can discuss with their parents at home. That is a really hard thing, I don't want you to have a bad relationship with this co-worker that you are talking about.
Good luck!
