My best friend and I have known eachother since 2nd grade and she's always been really bossy now we're in our sophmore year of high school and she's been making me feel so pathetic like I have no friends. My other close friend moved to another country so she's almost the only close person i know. I have other friends and so does she but latley she won't stop bragging and talking about hanging out with these people and I'm REALLY getting sick of her but I can't really do anything but just follow her because she's the only really close friend I have anymore. Sometimes she's okay but she always is getting these annoying like moodswings and she makes me feel so stupid! What can I do? I want to make more friends but I don't know how I'm really shy?

I'm on track but I don't know how to make friends with those people because they're always talking to each other in groups and I feel like they don't want to talk to me

First, she's not a good friend.

Stop following her around, not only do you feel pathetic, but others will see you as pathetic too.

How do you ever expect some guy to like you and ask you out if he only knows you as that girl who follows around the girl with the mood swings.

You're young. You don't have to join a new group of friends right now, or ever really. Start by being friendly to one or a few OTHER people in your classes and they'll eventually introduce you to their friends.

Be social, talk to people. You don't have to try so hard to be smarter or funnier, just be yourself and meet people.

Well since the two of you have been friends so long I'd suggest you talk to your friend about the way she acts. She might be totally oblivious to how she is making you feel so give her a chance to improve the situation. Also try to make other friends.. maybe you could join a club or team at your school that your friend doesn't have an interest in. It's a good way to meet people. You can always just stop hanging out with her... I would rather be a loner than someones tag-along. Try and make it clear to her that just because you've known each other so long it doesnt' mean she can walk all over you.

You are going to have to find a friendly person to give you more exposure. You need to learn where to be at the right time for your lifelong social skills to develop anyway. Try standing with those groups that form in Track. The circle will eventually widen to include you and they'll get used to seeing you there. Some of us quieter people have to take the time to be noticed and by then we're in!! Your old friend will dump you if she gets the chance!! Right? Start standing around the popular people until they make room for you. If they are sitting down summon the nerve to ask if you can sit with them.
You won't disturb them very much. They will be secretly flattered!! Keep trying until you squeeze into a group!!

Quit following. Relationships are two way! Go somewhere else, and if she never follows you, all well. There is no reason to have to feel like you must always follow someone. If they are too narrow minded to get over their obssession of being your "leader" then they probably aren't really a friend.

Strike up a conversation. Friendship happens. It is not something you get and get, obviously in a shop.

She leads you by the nose ring because you are letting her. Just break loose.

Pick up confidence. That's what this is all about. Find the ones that suits you. Not what she says suits you.

Yeah, this same exact thing happened to me, lol. Being alone is better than being with people who drag you down like that, it just makes you feel awful and depressed. I'm sure you'll find some new and better friends, no matter how shy you are. Pretty much anything's better than that, right?
