Yep, a friend of mine has a bona fide button phobia, and she's not the only one (check out http://www.unusualphobias.com/buttons.html for some likeminded button haters).
The medical name is koumpounophobia.

I quite like the old buttons - adds a bit of glamour to proceedings i think!!

nononononononon. I love buttons! They can add intrest to clothes. They can add style. They are sophisticated. They can look cute casual neat....in colonial times the more buttons you wore the higher class and richer you were!!!

I don't see whats repulsive about them they are better than zips that stick and Velcro sets my teeth on edge
