Okay, so i have to write a WWI letter as what life was like as a solider on the front line. My question is ... what part of WWI am i suppose to talk about? it says include No mans land...but is that only for the one in Germany of the western front? or does it want me to choose either The Vimmy Ridge, The Somme, Ypres, and or the Passendale? So am i suppose to write a letter based on what happened during the WWI, or is it just the battle of France and Germany?.. as in on the western front? Thanks for your time everybody!

"No Man's Land" was a general term for the area between one side's trenches and the other side's trenches (and thus was controlled by neither). It is most usually applied to the Western Front, i.e. the area where Germany was fighting against France, Britain and Canada. It does not have to apply to any particular battle or indeed to a battle at all; No Man's Land was there during lulls of the fighting

"No man's land" occurred just about anywhere the war degenerated into trench warfare. On the western front this would include The Marne (a very important early battle),Ypres, The Somme, Verdun, Chateau Thierry, and Belleau Wood. In Italy Gorizia (I think). At Gallipoli (in Turkey) there was very little "no man's land" as the Turks pushed the line as close to the allied trenches as possible to avoid naval gunfire. In the middle east there was a key battle at Beersheba the movie "The Light Horseman" is excellent if you can find it. The Balkans were also important, but did not have the well known battles; the Germans referred to the "Salonika Front" as an internment camp. The A&E Movie "The Lost Battalion" is good if you want a more modern interpretation with less profanity & gore.

An interesting departure to what your teacher expects of you is to write a letter from the Eastern front: The war between Germany and Russia. For that, you would have to borrow and read a book from the library called "1914" by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. I don't know how young you are or how much time you have, but you could pull off a coup.

A low-risk option is to read "All Quiet on the Western Front" by Erich Maria Remarque. That tells the story of no-man's land, etc., from the point of view of a German soldier.

To get the "feel" of all this, I recommend that you rent a DVD of a recent film called "A Very Long Engagement." It stars Audrey Tautou, whom you saw recently in the "DaVinci Code."

Good luck to you, whatever risk it is you decide to take on!

No Man's Land (NML) was not a specific battle, and during actual battles, there usually wasn't an NML, since the troops would be moving out of their trenches.

The NML was the name for the area between the trenches of the opposing sides. It existed all along the trench lines of the Western Front.

"No mans land" is the place on the Western Front between the French and German trenches... during the stalemate. It's called "No mans land" because neither army wanted to move forward. If it says to include No mans land, I'm assuming this is what you should write about. However, you really should clarify with your teacher.

I'm guessing your teacher wants you to demonstrate to him/her that you understand what trench warfare was like, so pick one and explain how it went down for the men in the trenches.

If the teacher was unspecific, then its always best to be creative. Just pick one that had a no man's land and go with it.

Baccano! and Durarara! are sturdy options (in that order, so which you're able to get mind-blowing references to Baccano! in Durarara!), in spite of the reality that they are basically somewhat comedies. i'm bothered looking protagonist in the two sequence, because of the fact this is centred on progression of lots of characters. the fairly protagonist from Durarara! is extremely Mirai Nikkish, however the project is he fairly looks not often. anyhow, those 2 are appropriate options for sturdy plot (i wouldn't likely use the term 'tale', you will see once you watch them), sturdy character progression, in spite of the reality that there are not lots sword fights. maximum are combats, tho. and that they are extremely darkish. properly, i could use term 'mysterious'. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is sturdy. it fairly is my well known anime, yet from purpose viewpoint i could basically say: it has mind-blowing tale and is made exceedingly for character progression to oppose FMA. it fairly is extremely severe and darkish, too. fairly, this is center is. Code Geass isn't undesirable determination the two. Many whinge there is lots of randomizing interior the sequence, yet i don't think of so. i could smash to describe something greater, yet you're gonna like it. dying notice, yet i assume you suspect that one. yet another isn't undesirable. It has basically somewhat Mirai Nikki syndrome (somewhat) and tale is somewhat.. properly, you will see, even regardless of the indisputable fact that this is sturdy anyhow. i could additionally recommend No.6 even in spite of the reality that it lacks action. this is purely 11 episodes, so it would not be a project. i don't wanna smash, so i will basically say: i encourage you to observe it. by employing the way, while you're at it, examine Ibitsu manga (horror, *** city legends) and play recreation called Ib (launched final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, bunch of pixels you will fairly celebrate with, gameplay is basically around 2-3 hours). desire you got here upon something smart. ^w^
