How can I kill “Star of Bethlehem bulbs”?

They are everywhere in my lawn and garden. I can kill the part above ground which leaves big bare spots in my yard but does not harm the thousands of bulbs under ground. If you can answer this, Yahoo Answers should give you several thousand points. - (Joke)

It's a noxious weed that is fatal if ingested by humans and animals. According to all the websites I found, the only sure way to rid your lawn of it is to dig it all out by hand.

these are bad weeds... all bad weeds are removed by pulling it up to its roots..
