All I can say is look at Elizabeth Taylor, she's a film legend, however though many people loved her a long time ago, I don't think anyone really even cares anymore. It's just a part of aging, people tend to forget aging actresses. Males on the other hand can be old in films and no one cares. Since Di dies young, everyone will remember her that way, rather than old. More people recognize her than Queen Elizabeth so I think you have your answer.

Actually now that I think about it,

She wouldn't have become a beanie baby any other way.

nobody is obsessed with her!! I was born in England but now live in the united states. It was a tragic thing what happened to our princess she was a very strong lady and loved her boys and her husband. Yes i believe that people would still love princess Di even if she was still alive, i don;t think you should change the way you feel about someone just because they are no longer with us. Maybe she is immortalized in some peoples lives in England or anywhere if they had that bond with her. Dead or Alive I will never forget what she has done for us and helping all those kids in 3rd world countries removing those land mines, just for the public everybody love is the same for princess Di some is just stronger then others.

You know, I think about this sometimes. The "pretty angel who died young" factor probably does have some weight...and some people miss their youth...
I wonder too, if she had married Dodi if all those people who now worship her memory would have turned against her. It's an interesting question. Kind of like JFK...he died at the height of the "Camelot years" and before some of his less savoury behaviour became public knowledge. I'm not saying Di was unsavoury, but marrying a "foreigner" probably would have put her in a lot of people's bad books.

i guess that's something we'll never know. i think it would have all depended on what she'd done with her life. i'm sure that she would have still been popular as she did a lot of work for charity, which is one of the reasons why people seemed to like her so much.. don't get me wrong, i was never really a fan of Princess Di, but she was one of the better, more down to earth members of the Royal Family... ok - i know she was divorced, but people still saw her as being royalty. i guess people are still obsessed with her in the same way that people obsess over people like Marylin Monroe and Elvis. they were people who died in tragic circumstances, younger than they should have. personally, the thing that i found most tragic was that her 2 sons were left without a mother, and had to have the eyes of the world media on them as they tried to grieve.

It's the Marilyn Monroe/Elvis/James Dean thing all over again. Live fast, die young and leave a good-looking corpse. All of the above did that and they all have a morbid following that obssess over them, mostly people with no lives.

If Diana was still alive and was fat and old now, nobody would care about her.

Currently they would not feel the sae, but when she did eventually pass away the feelings would be the same. These people seen all her good looks and charity work this is why they love her . however i sense a tone of suspision in ur voice that is maybe becoz no1 knws what went on behind the scenes

I just have to trell you your nose is the biggest I've seen. Perhaps you should have it removed in case it is Yahoo in work with the aliens. Be warned....... I never loved Di, by the way.. She was just one of 6 billion on the world. It was simply a shame for her and her family she died young - but don't so many others?

I don't think so. Considering Mother Theresa died a short time later and received nowhere near the same amount of coverage and the press kept reiterating how much a "champion of charity" Diana was !?!

If she had carried on doing the good things she was doing then yes, but we will never know, and people are obsessed with her because she is one of the few modern day royals who got of her backside and done some good instead of just racking it in.

i have no preferance. buuuut i think that people would still love her. if she was alivew and it had never happened then eventually there would have beena show for people to vote for their fave royals and that di would win.

phil was a **** to her so i think the guilty and the women felt sympathy for her. it made her more human to be cheated on like everyone else.

she was charitable and had a sense of humour.

god knows what else.
