The Rear of my truck starts to hop violently when I am braking. It starts Hopping at about 45 MPH and does not stop until I am stopped. If I stop at speeds slower than 40 it does not Hop though. I HAVE already replaced the rear brake shoes and drums , these are brand spankin new and are nto warped or bad in any way. Also I have replaced the front brake pads. I did not have the rotors turned/replaced They don't have any wear and no Lip on the oustide and there is no shimmy in the steering wheel to indicate warped rotors. another thing is when The truck is at slower speeds 15-0 I can feel a slight pulsing on the brake pedal. This hopping is driving me nuts and I'm at a loss, Any ideas????

It sounds like your proportioning valve or possibly a problem with the ABS, or both. The rear of your truck is lighter and if one set of brakes are applying out of sequence it can cause the lighter rearend to hop. I own and operate tractor trailers and you get a similar problem when pulling an empty trailer when they are out of adjustment.

First check the rear shocks and make sure they are good and hooked to truck frame and Axel. Then make sure the locating links that hold the rear Axel in the truck are not bent , lose, or broken, or rusted all depends on how old your trk is springs should be checked also for broken , collapsed and weak. The pulsating maybe the rear brakes or front , if you feel a pulsating on the brake pedal

I'm willing to bet you over tightened the shoes and they are getting very hot! That will cause it to "hop" when the brakes are applied!
