it is definately venus!!!! face it, then turn and look to the left, that really bright star is sirius (brightest star in the sky) venus is much brighter. if you watch venus long enough you will notice that when it gets to a certain height it will twinkle like crazy, beautiful sight. good luck!!!!!!

Venus. Its the brightest object in the sky besides the sun and the moon. Its been there for years.

Venus... I know Venus is the brightest natural object in the sky, my compass is broken I can't confirm the "west" part.
