I am trying to get pictures from my kodak easyshare onto my website, but the only access I have to the internet is at work, and the computer does not allow me to install software, since I am not an administrator. Is there any way to get the pictures from my memory card to the computer without installing software?

Normally, you don't need any software to download photos to a computer, especially if it's running Windows XP. There's a built in Scanner and Camera Wizard that can do the job. You'd connect your camera to a USB port on the computer. If the camera is recognized by XP, the wizard will launch automatically. Or, you might have to click start > all programs > accessories > scanner and camera wizard. Once you see the wizard, follow the prompts to copy the pictures to the hard drive. (This method requires your camera to be on. It drains batteries real fast so you might have to have the camera plugged into an ac outlet. Not very subtle if you don't want the boss to see what's going on.)

A better way might be to get a memory card reader. It also plugs into a USB port but is relatively small (like a deck of cards for a 5 in 1 reader) and doesn't require ac power. A reader for just one type memory card is even smaller:

XP will recognize the reader and again, you can download the pictures. One big however..... this is all based on the assumption that your IT Department didn't do something to keep people from installing their own hardware. This is unlikely since people use flash drives, etc at work, but it's possible. A second caution..... if you do put the pictures on the company's hard drive, you'll probably have a limited window of opportunity to get them on your website before the IT Dept realizes what you're doing. In any event, make sure you delete them from the hard drive. Do other people at work have access to the same hard drive? Just a thought.

So my only other recommendation is to find a computer outside of work..... a friend, a cyber cafe that rents laptops, a public library, etc. Good luck.
