I tried a centrifical clutch but the motor is to big .it has a side shaft and it a 20 hp lawnmower motor.To much power for a centrifcal chain driven clutch please help.

You could try a different clutch assembly. There are many different centrifugal clutches for sale. If you'd rather have a cable operated clutch, you can also get that type, coupled to a regular chain drive (which is better than a belt-drive). (I think I'd rather go with a positive-engaging cable-operated clutch with that much horsepower).

If you can't get a centrifugal clutch to operate properly the only suggestion I can offer is to utilize/modify a motorcycle clutch assembly.
If it's a 20 HP lawnmower engine it was probably from a self propelled mower or lawn tractor. If you can identify where the engine originally came from you can probably locate the centrifugal clutch that will work with the engine.

Too complicated, it's a 12 year old's toy, you have to think like a 12 year old.... How about a sawed off baseball bat, with a hole drilled through it, and put on the shaft for "Friction Drive" thats what we did as kids. You of course are an adult (Kinda), and might want to use a wheel from a lawn mower available at "Wal-mart", bolted to the drive shaft.

You will need to use a belt clutch like on the commercial carts sold in stores.You can usually find what you need at an industrial supply store.They can usually help you configure the best system for your application.

Omg, that would not sound fairly astonishing to hearken to that your spouse would could slap herself to get some `organic blush`? yet anyhow, i'm no longer right here to decide your super marriage yet that may assist you. :) i take advantage of my beginning place on lips too, it makes a funky look as though it became a lipstick. or you could purely placed eyeshdow on lips as a l;ipstick .. yet I doubt your spouse will agree on that ! xD

you could also try a dog clutch.....they use them on boats to disengage the prop shaft from the motor....may work??
