Noughts and Crosses, then Knife edge then Checkmate are the best books I've read. It makes me cry. It is amazing the way Malorie Blackman has with words. For those who don't know it is a book about racism and 2 people who love eachother and 1 is a nought and one is a cross and they go through a lot and in Knife edge onwards the girl has a terrible ordeal with everyone as she has her baby. A mix. A rainbow child. It is a beautiful trilagy and I recomend it to everyone.

Yes..read it....and your question is?
If it is...did I enjoy it , yes. Marjorie Blackman is a good author.

No indication of your age, but think you might enjoy Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood.

I love that book! If she speaks in a "childish manner" I don't think she's old enough to read it - it says on the back for older readers only, but anyways: Sephy and Callum are two very different friends - Sephy is a Cross, with dark skin. Callum is a nought and has white skin. In their world, Crosses are considered closer to God and better than noughts. Sephy and Callum are cruelly torn apart when Sephy's mum fires Callum's mum. Callum joins a violent nought rights group after trying to join Sephy's school and being bullied. His first big mission is to kidnap Sephy with the rest of his cell. He kidnaps her and gets her pregnant whilst he is supposed to be guarding her. Sephy's dad gives her a choice - have an abortion and Callum lives, or keep Callum's child and watch him get hung. Callum sneaks up to Sephy's house to see her and they talk in a rose garden. They decide to keep the baby and name it Ryan (after Callum's dad) or Callie Rose. At the end Callum hangs and, as he is dying, he calls to Sephy that he loves her and she call back that she loves him too. On the last page there is a birth announcement for Callie Rose. The next two books are about Callie Rose as a baby, child and teenager and the troubles she faces as a mixed race child, and the troubles her mother and grandmothers face. Hope I helped! I am a child so it should be in a childish manner.

Yep, excellent book. One of those books written for young people, but with a very serious message for everyone.

I haven't read it yet, but have heard about it. I think it was featured on a programme on Radio 4 some time ago.

Yes, lots of people have read it. Even me.
Not bad, if you like your message laid on with a trowel and have an aversion to surprises.
Cheers, Steve.
