When a team gets their fifth team foul (sixth in the NBA), when there is a non-shooting foul, instead of being given the ball out of bounds, they get one foul shot. If they make it, they get another one-if they miss, the ball is in play. You hit the double bonus (automatically two free throws for any foul except a shooting foul on a three pointer) after eight fouls (not sure about the NBA rule).

In the NBA, you are allowed 4 personal fouls each quarter. For every foul after the fourth foul, the opposing team gets two free throws. It does not matter if the foul is a shooting foul or not, after the fourth you get FT's no matter what, which is why they refer to it as the bonus.

In college basketball, on the 7th team foul you get the bonus, but the bonus in college is one-and-one free throws. This means if you make the first free throw, you get to attempt a second. If you miss the first, then the ball is up for grabs, no 2nd free throw is awarded. On the 10th team foul, a team goes into the double bonus. Which is like the bonus of the NBA, you get both free throws no matter what.
