Dinner Dance for us in June. I would really like to wear a Scottish traditional outfit for the dance. Kilts are for men, sadley, but what tartan theme do girls have? I know there is the sword dance outfit, but its a dinner dance. Are there any for girls?
Really would like to know.

Well if there are any scotts there, they will surely like it if you dress up as sheep! haha! Sorry...

Anyways, I don't know what kind of attire there is. The tartan might be a wee bit on the costly side too- I know trying to buy a kilt in my family tartan would cost quite a lot! In all honesty, I don't see why you couldn't wear something close to the sword dancers outfit- especially if it is for a dance though. Check out the sources- the second one is even better!!

Good Luck and have fun!

Girls also wear the tartan kilt. it's the design of whatever clan they are from. the dress is so close to the sword dance one that not many can tell the difference....

Maybe this site can help:

Sadly, I don't think much is known about traditional Scottish women's dress and that its sort of open for interpretation.
