If you are routinely late taking your pills, the correct answer is not to stop taking them midcycle and have unprotected sex. You should talk to your doctor about getting on a method of b.c. that requires less timing, like the patch or the NuvaRing.

Going off the pill can very easily make you have bleeding. You are undergoing hormone withdrawal. And your cycles will definitely be knocked askew by the stopping the pill midpack.

As to what you should do? If it's been less than 3 days since you had unprotected sex and you don't want to get pregnant, you may want to take emergency contraception. If you are over 18 this can be bought without a prescription at any drugstore: if you're under 18, you'll have to go to Planned Parenthood or your doctor.

Either way, you should take a pregnancy test if your next period is late.

the pill is set up so that one you stop taking it you start your period. Thats the perk of the pill, you can control when you get your period. It sound like your body is just adjusting to the pill and you got your period a little early. Nothing to really worry about! And you should try to take the pill at the same time everyday, but if your not right on the minute it wont hurt anything! Even if you miss a day or something, take it the next morning rather then stopping all together.
Just as a side note, unprotected sex isn't a smart idea! Be careful!

Did you get off the pill without talking to your doctor, this is never a smart thing to do. The pill is not just a toy that you take to keep you from getting pregnant. It is serious medicine and has a lot of hormones in it, all of which effect your body to extremes. You have now totally screwed up your system, way beyond just your period, and should see a doctor.

Having unprotected sex is totally insane, not only due to pregnency, but due to other deadly diseases out there. Do you really think that you should believe any man you sleep with when he tells you he is healthy, you are playing Russian Roulette, and being pregnant may not be your only issue.
You are somewhat lucky that as things go with your body there is a very good chance that you didn't get pregnant as you just got off the pill and a lot of times people who do want to get pregnant have problems after being on the pill. But don't think that you missed the bullet, some people are extremely furtile and can get pregnant right away. Don't just wait to see if you get your period, go to a doctor, get checked out for everything.

When you just stop taking the pill after having taken it for a few days it's going to make you bleed, why I can't explain but as far as the unprotected sex situation I'd have a prego test and full STD workup if I were you. Better to find out sooner than later. FYI, you can buy that Plan B pill over the counter so if this is something that happens to you often you might wanna pick up some for your oops moments. Good luck on that.

Was your period just off? If you just started the pill (you said 5 days?) then you haven't been on it long enough to make a change to your body. My sister is on that one where you get 4 periods a year--that can take up to an entire year for your body to get used to. It takes several months, 3 or 4, for your body to get used to the monthly ones, like Yasmin (that's what I'm on.)

You should not start or stop taking your birth control without talking to your doctor. Even if you're not having sex this messes with your hormones and it's not good for your body. Because you just stopped like that it may have triggered your period--that's what happens when you stop taking the main ones and start the "sugar pills." (Not sure if they're really sugar pills.)

If you had your period now instead of on the 17th I would think it's safe to start taking your pills again. Just start on a fresh pack and don't take them, then make it so you have a period three days later.

You're supposed to give it a lot longer than 5 days to take effect....i hope you meant 5 yrs.....anyways, the period 2 days later was normal. When you stop hormones cold like that, your regular hormones will fluctuate madly. You MIGHT get your period on the 17th, I don't know how long you were on the pill, so I can't say. Beyond that, if you're worried about pregnancy, you need to take two steps: First, get a pregnancy test. Second, smack yourself really, really hard, and start using condoms!!!! Pregnancy is really, really the least of your worries, coz at least the effect of that goes away after 18 yrs, once it grows up. HIV/AIDS, Herpes, HPV, etc are PERMANENT! Get tested for that stuff, too, while you're getting a preg test. Don't mean to preach, but girls need to be more careful. Guys are nasty.

Well, first off, it is NEVER NEVER NEVER ok to have unprotected sex. Take into account how LIGHT the period was, because sometimes there can be spotting as the egg attaches to the uterus. If you don't want to go through with a pregancy, you should find out asap. Wait a month before a store bought test- they're not that sensitive.

First, you need to stop having unprotected sex. You can catch a whole helluva lot more than a baby. I'm not trying to sound Holier than Thou on you, but I'm just telling you what I know. I've watched 3 friends die from AIDS all because they wanted the raw feeling. It's so not worth it.

Secondly, BCP's throw off you cycle a whole lot. You have to continue to take them until they regulate your cycle. THe good thing about Birth Control is that they have options that can lighten your period or make it shorter. You might need to try a lower hormone pill. Best thing to do is talk to your Gyn.

usually when you take the pill you don't have your period until you are done with them i think the last 5 or 7 maybe because you stop taking the pills your period came sooner but just in case take a pregnancy test and go to the doctors to get a STD test just to be safe it wont hurt to safe.

many forms of birth control carries hormones which can always affect your period in many ways and sometimes can stop them all together.i would wait till next month, ur concern shouldnt be about pregnancy cause it sounds to me that your not from what uve described. but my concern would be with unprotected sex which is never a good choice!
