It pops up like when I first start up firefox and when I logging on ebay or delete a message in my email account. It says "service certificate expired" and lots of other things.

When one goes to a "secure" site, one that uses HTTPS to encrypt things like usernames, passwords, and credit cards, a "certificate" is used by the technologies to verify that the domain name is using the correct encryption, so to speak. Its more complicated than that, but the basic idea is that every year, the certificate has to be renewed. If someone chooses not to, every time you do something involving HTTPS on that site, you could get that message.

I would be surprised to see it on ebay, but it is possible that your hosting provider/email provider has not updated their certificate. If its really happening on what you think is ebay, I would make sure that you are really logging onto ebay and not a phisher or fraudulent site.

When you log on to sites like ebay or webmail sites, they use a encrypted data line to transfer the usernames and passwords to the servers. If they don't renew their certificate, it's kind of like not renewing your drivers license, but not as serious. If you are on a site that you know is legit, don't worry, but be suspicious if you don't know the site.

Sometimes it also means that your credit card is out of date or overlimit and so your supplier may be limiting your access to websites.
