can you give me advice on what i should do with xbox live, for example what i need to buy will i need download media centre anything just please help!

with your xbox live you should first of all play Lost Planet it's probably the best on-line game yet! well that's what i think anyway. second xbox live you can do alot of things with it. like unlock achievement's and talk while you play if you don't already have the hard drive that clips on to the top of the xbox i would get that first 100.00 plus tax at game stop that way you can save games and do everything possible that xbox 360 offers you. Also GET the cooler system for the machine also it's about 20.00 plus tax YOU NEED THIS!!! if you play more than 8 hours a day at one time. Last but not least the wireless head set it's a must!! Who needs a wire that you keep pulling on everytime you get mad and pull the cord out of the control. This is pretty much everything you need to know about xbox 360 if you need anything else my gametag is MainShaggy13

It depends what you want from Xbox live as there are two different types of services, these are:
Xbox live Silver: This is free and allows you access to downloads and other media basically.
Xbox live Gold: This gives access to all the things on the Silver version but it allows you to play online as well, but it costs about £30-40 a year I think.
If you want Gold then you also need an internet connection, a game which can support online play (Gears of War is fantastic) and a head set if you wish to talk to the other players.

well you will have to buy a subscription
a headset
have internet connection
have a fun game i suggest halo2
and no you will not have to download media centre
but some games you will have to download maps and you can do that from the xbox

best deal i got was at game
£50 for:
12 month gold subscription(play online games)
200 microsft points(cud get you maybe a gamerpicture pack or sumthing on the xbox live marketplace)
uno and robotron xbox arcade games
annnnnnnnd..the xbox live vision camera(used in uno and in rainbow 6 vegas to put your own face onto your charecter and enables vid chat with a friend)

well basically get the wireless headset that way you don't have to mess around with the cable that is on the mic, get good games for xbox live; gears of war, rainbow six vegas, call of duty 3 and so on.

use xbox live for playing online! thats what its for, nothing to do with streaming media, you don't need xbox live for that, just a wired, or wireless network!

if you want to stream your own music/video then you will need media centre, you dont need to subscride to a gold account straight away, when you first join click on silver account, it will ask if you are sure, click yes and you will get a gold trial account for a month
