Out of the tap/faucet most of the time. In fact Coca Cola had a PR disaster when it was revealed that it's Dasani water was straight out of the public water supply and (according to them) specially filtered. When tested it was proven to be less pure than the tap water was to begin with.
Whoops!
Its all basically a huge con for folks with more money than sense.

Bottled water may come from many sources, even a city water supply. Most of the time it is just filtered water. It can be sourced by wells, springs, or rivers. Hard to believe that many people will pay more for 'bottled' water than for gasoline in the same amount. For the most part in America it is just a placebo.

Some of it comes from Natural Springs but most of it is nothing more than tap water that has been run through a reverse osmosis filter.

More likely to be from city water. Water that comes out of your faucet. That's where they are come from. Of course they boil them to kill all the bacteria and germs in them before they put the water in the bottle.
Check the manufacturing label. It tells you what city the water was made in.
