Firstly, I don't believe the British hate the french in anyway as a nation.
There however is a rise in nationalist sentiments concerning the English identity, which cannot be identified with the British sense of identity.
Just watching the television cookery shows reveals the keen interest shown by the British TV licence payer in french cuisine.
There exists just as many cosmopolitan food outlets in Britain as anywhere else in the world, from Chinese restaurants, Turkish and Greek kebab outlets to Indian restaurants so Britain hasn't until lately, had any problems with a lack of tolerance towards other cultures, so I can't see how we as a nation would hate the French.
What I would say is that our nation and France are healthy competing nations and as much as we have been proud once upon a time for being British the French continue to be a proud nation.
Maybe a small percentage of British people on the subliminal level are Jealous of Frances sense of nationhood as ours seems to be slipping down the drain.
I for one do not hate the French but admire their Writers Artists and poets and certainly admire their more left wing perception on society to the point that I've often wondered if the word "Socialism" was originally a French word.

It is a bit of a sweeping statement.
The French hate the British and the British hate the French. However the French love the British and the British love the French.
The two nations have such interlocked histories for well over a thousand years. Like an old married couple they both love and hate each other!
I speak French have lived and worked in France and I met plenty of anglophiles and anglophobes there. I love France and many French people, but there are some French people I dislike just as there are many Brits I dislike.
France is the main destination for British people on holiday. It is the country most visit if they go abroad for the first time.
So there is no answer to your question - just more questions!

before everything, i do no longer think the British hate the french by any skill as a rustic. There whether is an enhance in nationalist sentiments with reference to the English id, which could not be pointed out with the British experience of id. only looking on the television cookery shows nicely-knownshows the prepared activity shown by employing the British television licence payer in french food. There exists only as many cosmopolitan nutrients shops in Britain as everywhere else interior the international, from chinese language eating places, Turkish and Greek kebab shops to Indian eating places so Britain hasn't till at present, had any problems with a loss of tolerance in direction of different cultures, so i can not see how we as a rustic could hate the French. What i could say is that our u . s . a . and France are healthful competing countries and as much as we've been proud as quickly as upon a time for being British the French stay a proud u . s . a .. perhaps a small share of British human beings on the subliminal point are Jealous of Frances experience of nationhood as ours looks slipping down the drain. I for one do no longer hate the French yet know their Writers Artists and poets and surely know their extra left wing concept on society to the factor that i've got frequently questioned if the be conscious "Socialism" grow to be initially a French be conscious.

The question should read - why the French hate the British -?
I have lived in France for 4 years and have tried my hardest to integrate. However, the French do not want to know or help me with the language and believe me I have tried!!! I have had my neighbours for tea countless times and have tried to chat to shop assistants, waiters, children, and anyone French! In the time I have been here, I have learnt most of the language from the TV. I wish that they would start a French - English language programme; after all, I pay a huge amount in taxes and get nothing in return. Time to lobby your government all you French people who actually do like us!

Maybe there are historical reasons. Perhaps there are still some people who have resentment after learning about the Norman Conquest in 1066. French replaced Old English as the language of the upper class, and they made up the majority of the aristocracy at that time. I don't hate the British or the French as a people, but that's just my guess.

And hey, there's nothing wrong with frog legs. They're actually pretty good. :)

It may be related to the fact, that the majority of French people were cowards during both of the great wars.
Just a few, the famed Resistance, can hold their heads up high..
