My baby was born at 7 lbs 12oz and is now 8 weeks and weighs 11lbs 6oz. Is this normal or is he over/under weight?

I think as long your son is feeding regulary, and seems happy, and looks healthy, his weight is just fine. When you have an infant, you should at least see the nurse once a month and she will weigh your son and ask appropriate questions.. it is scary with your first newborn, you always wonder if your doing things right, and trust me, if your not, your baby will let you know! Good luck with your son, try not to be too worried and enjoy him while he is this little.

Sounds fine to me. Babies all grow at different rates, but what you want to look for is to make sure he/she has plenty of fat reserves...look for extra chub under the chin and on the thighs. It needs to be there, but some babies are naturally lean so if you don't see any chub in those areas what you need to do is rub the skin on the arm or leg GENTLY and see if it springs back without losing elasticity or bruising and if it does then baby is fine. If you are concerned about baby's eating habits just bring it up at your next pediatric appointment, but I'm pretty sure all is fine.

My little guy was born 7 lbs. 5 oz and at his 2 month visit, he was 12 lbs. 8 oz. I believe he was in the 50th percentile.

as long as your baby stays on their own personal growth chart (http://www.verybestbaby.com/CoolTools/Default.aspx) and doesn't go up or down to much then she is just fine. (so if she starts in say the 50th percentile she should stay there and not go up to the 75 or down to the 5th).

personally, my daughter is 6 months old and doesn't even way 13 pounds.. but my daughter is only in the 5th percentile (she's very small- but was full term)
