It is high time a black political figure began speaking of these issues instead of condescending to their base and running on the morally bankrupt platform of 'they can't blame us for what we do - we're victims!'.
It is refreshing and much needed.
Notice that Obama is steadily rising as Hillary is steadily slipping...also notice that his audiences are multi-colored...he isn't just trying to be president of 'black' America (as was Jesse and Rev. Al).
Obamas politics are a little too far left for me, and I don't think he has a clue regarding foreign policy, so he probably won't get my vote, but I admire him for taking some risky, conscientious stands.

I did not hear the context of his statement. If he was saying that black or white people think that someone with a good command of the English language is acting "white" - I think that was a statement he made and directed to narrow minded people that focus on the color of their skin because they are too ignorant for much else. Every race has got their fools.

Dave Chappelle had similar things to say to this. He can speak perfect "white" english, but he prefers his more black-oriented style. Nothing wrong with that. Language is a tool for communication, if I can understand you, we are communicating, and the tool is being used properly. Still, spelling and grammar do account for something, similar to how you might dress to express yourself.

I have been told the same. Whites who dig black culture/music/slang are often told they're acting black too. Think Justin Timberlake.
What's wrong with some people! Go figure!!!

I think that statement is correct, he is having a problem being accepted by people of his own race because he is educated.
