Any ideas as all the repairs seem not to work that well ,so will I need a new windscreen as it is such a small chip it seems so pointless if there is something I could do to make it better.

Get a new windscreen. A chip, even when repaired will always be noticeable, and in some cases the car could fail the MOT. Cost on your insurance about £50 if you have it as excess.

If you live in the UK a repair to your windscreen will cost you nothing. The main reason you should repair a chip is that a severe change in weather (as predicted next week) can be enough to crack the windscreen. If the chip has what looks like a dark bit inside, this means that moisture has gotten in and a cold freeze could be all you need for it to crack. Look at your insurance certificate and see who the recommended repairer is - usually Autoglass or Autowindscreens. If you replace the screen you will have to pay an excess, anything from £50 to £100.

If the repair has been proffessionally done you should not be able to se the difference. If it hasn't worked then you will need a new windscreen, but most windscreen replacements are covered by your insurance, if you've got comprehensive cover.

If you have tried a resin repair kit and still haven't achieved the results you were hoping for, there isn't much left you can do. Once the damage gets wet, it forces the air out and puts debris in the chip, eliminating any chance of repair.

There's a company called Novus that specializes in fixing glass chips. It's usually about $50 to fix a chip. Most insurance companies will even waive your comprehensive deductible if you get the chip repaired rather than getting the windshield replaced.

Get some of that resin with the vacuum suction cup things. Prestone makes it for around $10. The resin matches the index of refraction of the glass when it is forced into the hole or crack. When it dries, the chip is unnoticeable.
