because i have motion-censored hand towel dispenser in my bathroom at school. i am in a stall, in the bathroom alone and the towel dispenser goes off.

***i am NOT debating the fact of ghosts!***

Motion Sensor Ghosts

Most motion censors use thermal differences. Meaning that when something that is warmer or cooler than the surrounding air in front of the sensor it is triggered. So if the AC or Heating is on and air flow changes in the direction of the towel dispenser yes it may go off.

Or in the case of a Ghost if the ghost decided it wants to put off a heat signature in front of the dispenser then yes the ghost can trigger the sensor as well.

In the morning, is there a lot of dispensed paper. Asking if this only happens when your in there would be like asking about the referg's door light.

It would be a great rumor to set a foot at school. Make up a story about an OCD person and clean hands. Never to open the door by self due to germs.

Next time your drunk.... kick it off the wall and see if it still does it! just kidding. Then again it depends on the density of the ghost at a given time!

I know they can
As I was at work on morning at 4:30 am and I could here someone walking up and down the hall banging a door inside the building
When I got inside the building and turned the alarms off I looked no one was there
Then 5 minutes later a Security Guard arrived and want to know why the sensor had been going off for over half an hour so he checked the building out and found nothing.
I told him strange things happen in the still of the night : )

Love & Blessings

Any number of the things people have listed could cause this. A ghost should be one of the last conclusions you come to.

Assuming ghosts exist, as you clearly have, what is to say that they would even be able to activate a motion sensor in the first place. They may simply pass by unnoticed.

("can ghosts set off motion sensors to make a light turn on?") --------------------------------------... It may be that power surges in the AC line can sometimes trigger a motion sensor circuit by giving it a false positive trigger. Best regards

Could just be a shadow passing across the sensor...maybe the sun passed behind a cloud?

The motion sensor mechanism is faulty.

maybe specks on the cover piece that make it detect motion.. if its not that.. then I dont know, but I dont think ghosts would trip motion sensors... MAYBE..
