How do I find out the history of a local building in my area? It is a fine rather large house now used as a residential home previous to that it was the house of a doctor, been to library & local reference but all to no avail any ideas please?

Have you tried your local Borough Council? Also, maybe the Land Registry for that area. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Check the entire history for the last 30 years from the Registrar of lands and buildings of the concerned county/district/ state/ village ( whatever is applicable) and you can be sure that you get the accurate history !

Try the county records office
or the local history society

Register of Deeds or Clerk of Court in the county the property resides.
