For the first one:
2n^2 + 9n - 84
factor out 3: 3 (n^2 + 3n - 28)
factor: 3 (n-4)(n+7)
so n+4 is not a factor

For the second one:
x^2 + 2x - 15 = (x+5) (x-3)

x^2 + x - 20 = (x+5) (x-4)

they both have (x+5) in common

1) answer is d)n+4
3n-squred+9n-84 can be factored into:
(3)(n-squared+3n-28) or,
(3n-12)(n+7) or,
(3n+21)(n-4)

2) answer is b) x+5
x-squared+2x-15 factors into (x+5)(x-3)
x-squared+x-20 factors into (x+5)(x-4)
